Samsung has rolled out a fresh One UI beta today, but not the one many Galaxy fans were waiting for. Instead of bringing One UI 8 beta to the Galaxy S24, Z Fold 6, or Z Flip 6, the company has pushed out the second One UI 8 Watch beta for the Galaxy Watch 7. The update, now available to registered testers in South Korea and the US (the only supported markets), focuses on fixing key bugs rather than adding new features.

Galaxy Watch 7 gets new One UI 8 Watch beta update

A couple of months ago, Samsung opened One UI 8 Watch beta programs for the Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra in the US and Korea. It recently rolled out the stable version to the Ultra model, but the Watch 7 is now getting another beta build. The latest release, identified by version ZYH2, addresses three major bugs.

First, Samsung has fixed an issue where the watch failed to stop outdoor cycling workouts even after automatically detecting the session. Beta testers had also reported that the lift to wake gesture doesn’t work after exiting Sleep Mode, preventing them from checking their watch without manually interacting with it. Samsung patched this bug as well.

Additionally, for LTE variants of the Galaxy Watch 7, there’s an extra fix. Samsung addressed the automatic call rejection problem even when the Call Waiting feature was active on the connected smartphone. With Beta 2, your watch should now handle calls properly while you’re already on another line.

Depending on how the second One UI 8 Watch beta performs in real-world use, Samsung may decide the stable rollout plans for the Galaxy Watch 7. If testers report no significant issues, the company may soon begin preparing the final release. Hopefully, it won’t be a long wait now. All Galaxy Watch models launched in 2021 and beyond are eligible for One UI 8 Watch.
