Samsung is gearing up to introduce an entry-level clamshell foldable next year. According to a well-known industry insider, the company plans to launch a Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE (or Flip FE) in 2025. This model is expected to be a more affordable, scaled-down version of the regular Galaxy Z Flip 7.
A cheaper Flip foldable may come through Samsung’s doors in 2025
Rumors have recently ramped up about Samsung potentially launching five foldable smartphones next year. Alongside the regular Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7, the company is working on a second-gen Fold Special Edition (SE), a higher-specced Fold model with a bigger and thinner profile. Additionally, it has two completely new foldables in the pipeline: a cheaper Flip FE and an innovative tri-fold model.
Renowned display industry expert Ross Young recently confirmed the former. “Those hoping for a Z Flip 7 FE should be excited,” he posted on X. “It looks like a Samsung FE clamshell is finally coming in 2025”. Young added that the FE model might share the screens with the Flip 7, suggesting it will sport an identical design. However, the camera setup and processor could be different.
The tipster also confirmed the existence of a second-gen Fold SE. It will allegedly sport a similar design as its predecessor. While the regular Fold 7 might also get design improvements, it may not be as this as the SE lineup. Young claims Samsung doesn’t plan to launch a more affordable Fold model anytime soon, certainly not in 2025.
The Korean giant might introduce a fifth foldable next year, though. It’s reportedly on track to finalize the design for its first tri-fold smartphone this month and begin prototype production. All five models are expected to arrive in the second half of 2025, though they may not debut at the same event. Expect more leaks about Samsung’s next-gen Z series phones in the coming months.
