Shortly after installing the latest One UI 7 build, several Galaxy users reported battery drain issues. We initially thought the problem would fix itself within a few days, as is often the case with major software updates. However, the issue continued even after a couple of weeks, leading us to believe that a bug within the One UI 7 build could be the culprit of the quick battery drain for some users. It now appears that Samsung has finally addressed the issue with the June 2025 security update.

Galaxy users report better battery life after the June 2025 security update

Samsung releases its monthly security patches to address a bunch of security flaws in Galaxy devices. These updates often bundle bug fixes that aim to improve overall system stability and performance. In this case, the June 2025 security update appears to have done more than just improve security — it may have fixed the potential One UI 7 battery drain bug.

Recently, several Galaxy device users, including the Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy S24, and S24+, said that they noticed significant improvements in battery life after installing the June 2025 update. One Galaxy Z Fold 5 user said that their battery life had improved by 400%. Likewise, Galaxy S24 and S24+ users reported longer screen-on times, suggesting that the Korean firm has not only addressed the battery drain bug but may have also optimized power management.

A few weeks ago, Samsung started pushing its June 2025 security update to eligible users gradually. It has already reached a bunch of Galaxy devices, including the Galaxy S24 and the Galaxy Z Fold 5. If you have not updated to the latest security patch yet, you should do so as soon as possible to take advantage of the improved battery life. To check if the update is available on your device, go to Settings > Software update > Download and install.

Meanwhile, Samsung has just released One UI 8 beta 3 for the Galaxy S25 series in select regions. The latest beta build includes the June security patch as well as several bug fixes for a more stable performance. With this release, Samsung is one step closer to rolling out the stable version.
