Samsung appeared to be nearing the official launch of the Galaxy S25 Edge, but new reports suggest a delay. Initially expected to debut around April 15, the slim flagship may now arrive 1-2 months later, sometime in May or June. The delay follows a leadership reshuffle after the unexpected passing of Vice Chairman JH Han last week.
Galaxy S25 Edge faces a delay as Samsung restructures its leadership team
According to the Korean media, Samsung informed domestic carrier partners about a delayed launch of the Galaxy S25 Edge on Wednesday, April 2. The company seemingly hasn’t shared a new launch date or even an estimated timeline. Industry experts expect the phone to go official in May or, at the latest, in June.
Samsung never planned to host a big launch event for the Galaxy S25 Edge. Its unveiling was supposed to be a low-key affair, with the company releasing a bunch of promotional videos and marketing materials online. However, its new leadership team believes this isn’t the right time to introduce this slim flagship to the market.
The Galaxy S25 Edge is a completely new product in Samsung’s smartphone lineup. Measuring just 5.84mm in thickness, the device is incredibly slim while still packing a powerful set of specs. We are looking at a big, 6.7-inch flagship-grade display, 200MP primary camera, and the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor with 12GB of RAM.
The Korean firm seemingly wants to wait for that “perfect” window to launch the phone. Or maybe it plans some adjustments in specs, particularly the battery capacity and the second rear camera. As things stand, the Galaxy S25 Edge is expected to pack a 3,900mAh battery and lack a zoom camera, with Samsung offering an ultrawide lens instead.
That said, the new report from Korea adds that Samsung didn’t delay the Galaxy S25 Edge’s launch due to quality or performance issues. So, the company must be satisfied with what it made. Instead, the impeachment trial of President Yoon Suk-yeol could be one of the reasons for its delayed release. Samsung likely wanted to avoid marketing challenges caused by public attention shifting to the trial.
This slim flagship won’t come cheap
Samsung is expected to price the Galaxy S25 Edge between the S25+ and S25 Ultra. The device could start around $1,100 in the US. The company may sell the phone in silver, black, and blue colors. However, it may not be available globally, as Samsung plans to make only 3 million units this year. The rest of the Galaxy S25 lineup is estimated to sell around 35 million units. More details should be available in the coming weeks.
