Samsung has started pushing the October 2024 security patch update to Galaxy devices. The Galaxy S24 FE is the first to receive the latest security update. The company will soon roll out this update to other Galaxy smartphones and tablets worldwide.

Galaxy S24 FE leads Samsung’s October 2024 update party

A few days back, Samsung released the first software update for the Galaxy S24 FE in the US. it brought the September security patch and some performance optimizations. We expected the company to release the update for the device in other markets soon. It did but with a newer security patch. The Fan Edition handset is picking up the October SMR (Security Maintenance Release) in global markets.

The October security update is currently rolling out to the Galaxy S24 FE in India, Europe, Africa, and more regions. Unlike the US version, the global version of the phone is only getting the latest security fixes. There aren’t any performance optimizations in tow. The new firmware build number for the device is S721BXXS2AXI5. Samsung should push the October patch to the US version with a separate update later this month.

As of this writing, Samsung has not disclosed the vulnerabilities patched with its October SMR. However, as with most monthly security updates, it is likely to include dozens of patches across Android OS and One UI. Expect a few critical fixes too. The company is expected to provide more details about the specific fixes in this October update soon. We will let you know when it does.

This update focuses solely on security enhancements, so users should not expect any major feature changes. However, the Galaxy S24 FE is eligible for seven years of Android OS/ One UI and security updates, so there’s plenty in store. The first major feature update may arrive early next year in the form of One UI 7 based on Android 15. Samsung is preparing to launch the One UI 7.0 beta in December.
