Samsung May Not Offer 16GB RAM on Galaxy Z Fold 7 or Flip 7

by | Jan 30, 2025 | Galaxy Z, News

Despite some early rumors, Samsung may not equip the Galaxy Z Fold 7 with 16GB of RAM. A new leak suggests the foldable will stick with 12GB of RAM. In fact, there may be no changes to the RAM and storage options for both the Fold and Flip models this year.

Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 boast 12GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage

Samsung was widely rumored to launch the Galaxy S25 Ultra with 16GB of RAM. While it did, this RAM boost isn’t available globally. As of this writing, you can buy an S25 Ultra with 16GB RAM only in South Korea and China. Those are the same two countries where it released the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition with 16 gigs of RAM.

Fans expected Samsung to offer the same RAM boost on the Galaxy Z Fold 7 globally. However, if X leaker @PandaFlashPro is accurate, that won’t happen. The upcoming Fold is said to feature 12GB of RAM across the board, with no 16GB option. While we won’t completely rule out the possibility of a 16GB variant just yet — the foldable is still several months away — it might be limited to the same regions again.

As far as the storage options are concerned, there’s no change there either. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be available in 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB options, which [pretty much caters to all types of users. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 also reportedly comes with 12GB of RAM, paired with 256GB and 512GB storage variants. No surprises here.

The X post says “Powered by Snapdragon 8Elite World-Wide” at the end. It isn’t immediately clear whether the tipster meant Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy will power both the Fold 7 and Flip 7 or only the Fold model. There have been rumors of Samsung potentially using its in-house Exynos 2500 in the Flip this year. Expect more leaks in the coming months.
