Even though the Samsung Galaxy Watch line tops consumer satisfaction benchmarks in the US, according to ACSI, it hasn’t helped the brand perform better globally, as it continues to lose ground in the worldwide smartwatch market, according to IDC’s second-quarter report.

Samsung smartwatch shipments decline 2.1% year-on-year, according to IDC’s Q2 2025 report

The International Data Corporation (IDC) recently released its report on global wearable shipments for the second quarter, and Samsung is the only brand among its main competitors that’s falling behind. Huawei is at the top with 20.2% of the market, followed by Xiaomi at 19.3%, and Apple at 15%. These three are clearly leading the way and reaching more people around the world. Samsung comes in fourth with 6.5%, and BBK is fifth with 6%.

The report also points out that Samsung’s shipments dropped by 2.1% compared to the same time last year. That’s not a good sign, especially since every other brand on the list saw their numbers go up. In fact, Samsung is the only one that lost ground while its competitors kept growing. Xiaomi’s growth is especially striking, with its shipments jumping by 61%. That shows how much more people are choosing its products over the last year.

This shift suggests that Samsung is having a harder time keeping customers interested, while other brands are finding ways to attract more buyers. If this continues, it could mean bigger challenges for Samsung in the months ahead. However, to understand the market choice better, we may want to wait for a third-quarter report.
