Samsung is Developing Galaxy A36 with Snapdragon Processor

Alongside the Galaxy S25 series, Samsung is readying its next mid-range smartphones. The Galaxy A36 will accompany the Galaxy A56 sometime in the first half of 2025. After a recent appearance in the IMEI database, the device surfaced on Geekbench. The listing revealed its processor, RAM, and software details.

Galaxy A36 appears on Geekbench to reveal key specs

The Galaxy A36 was first spotted on Geekbench by 91mobiles. Identified by the model number SM-A366B — which indicates the global version with 5G connectivity — the phone surfaced with Android 15. Samsung will probably ship it with One UI 7.1, which will debut on the Galaxy S25 series in early 2025.

The benchmarking platform listed the Galaxy A36 with 6GB of RAM. However, Samsung could offer an 8GB RAM version when it launches the phone next year. As far as the processor is concerned, we are looking at an octa-core chipset with four performance CPU cores running at 2.4GHz and four power-efficient cores at 1.8GHz.

The CPU is paired with Qualcomm’s Adreno 710 GPU, suggesting that the Galaxy A36 will either feature the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 or the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset. As SamMobile notes, Samsung Foundry manufactured both chips in its 4nm (4LPX) fabrication process. The Galaxy A35’s Exynos 1380 is a 5nm processor.

In terms of performance, the Galaxy A36 achieved a maximum single-core score of 1,060 and a maximum multi-core score of 3,070. These scores are comparable to its predecessor. However, the new model is still in the early stages of development. Samsung has enough time to further optimize its performance before launch.

Samsung recently committed to offering six years of Android OS and security updates for its mid-range devices. The Galaxy A16 is the first A series model to get extended update support. The Galaxy A36 should receive the same treatment. With Android 15 pre-installed, the device will pick up feature updates through to Android 21.
