Samsung was previously rumored to introduce a Galaxy S26 Pro this year, but those plans were ultimately scrapped. Now, the company appears to be revisiting the idea with a different approach for next year. Reports suggest a Galaxy S27 Pro is in the works, and this time, it will join the existing lineup.

Galaxy S27 lineup may expand to four models, including a Pro

The Galaxy S26 Pro was supposed to replace Samsung’s base flagship this year. The company initially planned to launch the S26 Pro, S26 Edge, and S26 Ultra, but it later went back to the standard formula, introducing the Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra. Samsung scrapped the Pro model altogether, and there’s little indication that the Edge will see the light of day either.

However, the company may launch a Galaxy S27 Pro in a different form next year. According to the Korean media, the Pro model will join the Galaxy S27, S27+, and S27 Ultra, expanding the lineup to four models. The biggest highlight here is that the S27 Pro will allegedly sit just below the Ultra model, not the other side of the spectrum.

Samsung’s idea is to offer an alternative for users who want an Ultra-like experience, but without the S Pen. To be honest, there seems to be a market for this device. The Ultra has a lot over the base and Plus models, but it is also a bit too bulky because of a built-in S Pen. Removing the stylus could make it slimmer or substantially increase the battery capacity.

If this leak is accurate, the Galaxy S27 Pro may share most of the specs with the S27 Ultra, if not all. Samsung is clearly doubling down on the premium segment as a growth driver. We should get a clearer picture in the coming weeks as development progresses.
