Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Battery Certified, Take a Look

by | Jul 31, 2024 | Galaxy S, News

Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Ultra is starting to take shape. A fresh online listing suggests the company has begun early production of some components. The phone’s battery has been spotted in a regulatory certification. The listing doesn’t reveal the battery capacity, but rumors say the upcoming flagship will feature the same battery as the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

Korean regulators certify the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s battery

South Korean regulatory agency Safety Korea recently certified the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s battery. The agency listed two battery packs for the device, bearing model numbers EB-BS938ABY and EB-BS938ABE. Both units appear to have the same dimensions and design. However, the latter’s body has “For EU” imprinted. It’s unclear what that exactly means. Maybe Samsung is producing the batteries for the European market differently to comply with the EU laws.

Both batteries for the Galaxy S25 Ultra are manufactured by Chinese firm Ningde Amperex Technology Limited (ATL). The firm has been supplying batteries to Samsung for several years now. The Korean behemoth cut ties briefly after the infamous Galaxy Note 7 disaster but has since resumed business with its Chinese battery supplier. The Galaxy S24 Ultra also uses ATL-made batteries, though Samsung SDI and ELENTEC also supplied batteries for the phone.

It’s unclear if Samsung will keep the latter two suppliers for the Galaxy S25 Ultra. It has historically had multiple battery suppliers for every product, so that’s quite likely. Things should get clearer in the coming months. The EB-BS938ABE and EB-BS938ABY batteries for the new Ultra were previously certified by the Indian regulatory body BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards). Expect more leaks and rumors about the device in the build-up to its launch in early 2025.

Rumors have hinted at some major changes

Rumors say the Galaxy S25 Ultra will sport a fresh new design. The company is reportedly switching from a boxy design to a curved one, making the corners and edges less sharp. It may also get 16GB of RAM and satellite connectivity. The battery capacity and charging speed may remain unchanged at 5,000mAh and 45W. Stay tuned for information.
