Samsung Expands August Security Update to More Galaxy Devices

by | Aug 29, 2024 | News, Updates

Samsung is continuing its commitment to user security by rolling out the August 2024 security update to more Galaxy devices. After flagship models, the latest security patch is now making its way to several budget and mid-range phones. The Galaxy A23 5G and Galaxy F54 are the newest Samsung phones to benefit from this month’s security enhancements.

August update reaches the Galaxy A23 5G and Galaxy F54

The August security patch addresses a variety of vulnerabilities identified by Samsung and Google. There are 50 total patches in this month’s Security Maintenance Release (SMR). These range from critical fixes to moderate patches that enhance the overall stability and security of Galaxy devices. Some of the vulnerabilities could potentially be exploited by malicious actors.

Samsung has already updated dozens of Galaxy phones and tablets to the August SMR globally. The journey continues with the latest security patch recently making its way into the Galaxy A23 5G and Galaxy F54. The former is picking up the update in the US, while the latter is grabbing it in India. The new firmware build numbers are EXG6 and CXH1, respectively.

While the F series phone isn’t receiving anything more than the aforementioned 50 security patches, the August update for the A series model brings additional bug fixes and software optimizations for improved system stability and reliability. Do not expect major new features or functional improvements, though. These are some internal changes to give you a more reliable Galaxy experience.

Samsung will soon start rolling out the September security patch to eligible models. It may be bundled with a major feature update for flagship devices, including foldables and tablets. The company will push new AI features and camera improvements from the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 to compatible models. Samsung’s One UI 7.0 beta program may also begin early next month, so stay tuned.
