Samsung launches new smartphones almost every month. This also means older devices regularly reach the end of their support window. This time, three popular mid-range models are officially exiting the update cycle: the Galaxy A13, Galaxy A23, and Galaxy M33 5G.

Three Galaxy phones reach end of support this month

Samsung launched these devices in April 2022 with One UI 4.0 based on Android 12. They all received regular feature updates and security patches for four years. The Galaxy A13 and A23 picked up OS upgrades up to Android 14 (One UI 6). The Galaxy M33 5G, on the other hand, had a longer runway, receiving four major OS upgrades. Its journey concluded with Android 16-based One UI 8.

Well, Samsung has been internally testing One UI 8.5 for the Galaxy M33 in some regions. More specifically, the company has developed One UI 8.5 builds for the Korean version of the phone, which is called the Galaxy Jump 2. It remains to be seen whether the update will arrive, or if Samsung has pulled the curtains on it for once and all.

Even if the Galaxy Jump 2 (M33 5G) gets One UI 8.5, Samsung no longer promises official support for it. As such, it’s about time you consider upgrading to a newer model. The Galaxy A13 and Galaxy A23, in particular, are missing out on many new features and improvements, so upgrading now is a good idea.

Of course, your phone won’t suddenly stop working, but the experience will gradually age. Over time, you may notice compatibility issues with newer apps and expose yourself to increased security risks. Samsung’s newer mid-range phones offer significantly longer support windows. Recent models like the Galaxy A37 and A17 now come with up to six years of Android and One UI updates, along with extended security coverage.
