Samsung appears to be preparing for the return of Samsung Cloud. Rumor has it that OneNote will soon disappear from Samsung Notes. The company first partnered with Microsoft in 2019, adding OneDrive integration for the Gallery and OneNote support for Samsung Notes. This shift could mark the beginning of Samsung reducing its reliance on third-party services and rebuilding its own ecosystem.

OneNote will no longer sync with Samsung Notes

One of the more reputable leakers on X, Kro, revealed that Samsung will discontinue support for syncing between Samsung Notes and OneNote starting in July. This could mark the beginning of Samsung building its own software service suite. For years, the company has relied heavily on outsourcing to deliver solutions for its apps.

Your data will stay safe in the cloud, so you don’t have to worry about losing it. Still, you’ll likely need to migrate everything manually if the early One UI 8.5 builds are any indication.

Samsung hasn’t made any official statement yet. However, One UI server builds have proven to be accurate so far. It’s wise to start preparing now.

Could this be the beginning of something greater?

This could mark the beginning of Samsung building its own service suite. For years, the company has relied on third-party alternatives.

Instead of launching its own streaming platform, Samsung opted for Spotify integration. The same pattern applied to OneDrive and OneNote. That approach continues today with pre-installed Microsoft services on Galaxy devices like Outlook and Copilot.

I’m curious to see what Samsung has planned for Galaxy users. I’d also like to see it take a similar route with Google. That could cut down on a lot of the bloat.

Some services I’d like to see alongside cloud storage include custom email domains, disposable one-time email addresses, a built-in VPN, and a full web portal similar to Apple’s iCloud.

It might not be long before One UI feels like a truly Samsung-only experience. And I can’t wait.
