Samsung regularly updates its Galaxy apps to enhance the user experience with bug fixes and new features. Recently, it rolled out an update for Samsung Capture, a system app pre-installed on Galaxy devices. It brings a couple of interesting changes to improve existing features and address bugs.
The latest update brings better functionality to the Samsung Capture app
Samsung Capture handles screen recording, screenshot capturing, and other similar experiences. A few weeks ago, the company reintroduced the GIF creation feature to the app, allowing users to easily create short, looping animations. This feature had been temporarily disabled with the One UI 6.1.1 update but has now been restored.
The Korean firm is now rolling out another update to this system app with version number 5.8.62.0. According to the official release notes, the new version of Samsung Capture improves the “Sketch to Image” and “Smart Select” features. While the former is an AI feature to quickly transform rough sketches into proper drawings, the latter lets you capture specific parts of the screen and create GIFs.
Additionally, this update improves text display by fixing overlapping issues in certain languages with different characters. Samsung doesn’t elaborate but it looks like an important bug fix to enhance readability for everyone. The company also addresses the icon visibility issue in dark mode. The Pin icon, in particular, had visibility issues in the previous version.
Version 5.8.62.0 of the Samsung Capture app is now rolling out to Galaxy users globally via the Galaxy Store. However, it may not be available to everyone simultaneously. If you don’t see an update today, wait a few days and check again. You can always check for updates manually by navigating to Galaxy Store > Menu > Updates. Alternatively, you can search for “Samsung Capture” in the Store or open this link on your Galaxy phone.
