After months of anticipation, Samsung has finally begun rolling out the first beta version of One UI 7.0 for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6. The beta is now available in India, South Korea, and the US, with a UK release coming soon. Hot on its heels, Samsung has also started internally testing the Android 16-based One UI 8.0 on the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Fold 6. Yes, you read that right!
Android 16-based One UI 8.0 build spotted on Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6
As spotted by @KeepUPwithOneUI on X, Samsung’s One UI 8.0 build is currently being tested for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6. Going by the screenshots, it appears that Samsung is testing the One UI 8.0 build on Indian units of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6. The firmware versions are F956BXXU2CYC1 for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and F741BXXU2CYC1 for the Galaxy Z Flip 6.
In a related development, Samsung was also spotted testing the One UI 8.0 build for the Galaxy S25 lineup. According to the tipster, Samsung has begun working on One UI 8.0 for developers about two months earlier than usual. This may be due to Google speeding up the Android 16 development process. A company executive recently revealed that Android 16 is set to arrive in June. That’s much earlier than Android 15’s release. This could be one of the reasons why we might see One UI 8.0 sooner. Some tipsters have also suggested the same.
The first One UI 8.0 beta is expected to roll out in the third quarter of 2025. Sure, if everything goes as planned. Samsung has started development earlier than usual, which could lead to a faster release. If all goes smoothly, the stable One UI 8.0 update could arrive much sooner than the One UI 7.0 stable version. The latter has yet to land, and even when it does, it would already be over six months late.
