Samsungโs upcoming tri-fold remains largely a mystery. Thereโs little information available about it. Thankfully, with the model numbers now confirmed and the device stopping by GSMA, we can be sure itโs in the works. Beyond that, only a few details have leaked, nothing official. The release timeline for Samsungโs debut tri-fold is also very conflicting. However, a new tip suggests that Samsung is now testing the One UI 7.0 firmware build for the device.
Samsung tri-fold spotted running One UI 7.0 build on server
As shared by @theonecid (via @KeepUPwithONEUI), the tri-fold has just appeared on Samsungโs server. A recent report confirmed that SM-F968 is the model number for Samsungโs tri-fold, and SM-F968N is now visible in the list. The โNโ suffix indicates South Korea, one of the first markets where itโs expected to launch. The other one is China.
The latest test firmware, F968NKSU0AYD3, follows an earlier build (AYC1), signaling active software development. The previous AYC1 build was shared by @KeepUPwithONEUI a few days ago. This suggests that Samsung is working on optimizing Android 15-based One UI 7.0 for the tri-foldโs unique form factor. Samsung already has two foldables โ the clamshell (Z Flip) and the book-style (Z Fold) โ so the tri-fold will be an entirely new category for the company.
That said, the tri-fold is rumored to sport a 9.9 and 10 inches screen when unfolded, which would be massive. For context, the Huawei Mate Xs sports a 10.2-inch display when unfolded, making it a huge device.
As mentioned earlier, reports on its release timeline remain conflicting. Some say it could debut alongside the Galaxy Z series in July, while another tipster bets on a January 2026 launch. What seems more likely is that the tri-fold (or Galaxy G Fold) could launch in South Korea and China in July, with a global release following early next year.
