Earlier this month, Samsung released its preliminary earnings guidance for Q1 2025. And today, the Korean firm shared its official financial results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2025, which look quite impressive. Despite facing a lot of trouble in the DS Division, the company’s operating profit increased to KRW 6.7 trillion. It has managed to earn KRW 79.14 trillion in consolidated revenue, an all-time quarterly high.

Galaxy S25 pushes strong Q1 2025 results for Samsung

Samsung says that strong sales of the flagship Galaxy S25 smartphones helped its MX and Networks businesses post KRW 37 trillion in consolidated revenue and KRW 4.3 trillion in operating profit for the first quarter. New Galaxy AI features, improved camera, and top performance make the Galaxy S25 a great choice for consumers looking for the best Android smartphone. The Korean firm expects the Galaxy S25 Edge and the 2025 foldable lineup to bolster its revenue further this year.

Speaking of Samsung Display Corporation (SDC), it reported KRW 5.9 trillion in consolidated revenue and KRW 0.5 trillion in operating profit for the first quarter. Amid rising market uncertainties, Samsung says its mobile display business sales will see growth due to its innovative technologies and products. As for the large display business, it aims to grow in both B2C and B2B monitor markets by introducing different product lineups.

DS Division sees decline in operating profit

Samsung’s DS Division, responsible for the company’s semiconductor business, reported KRW 25.1 trillion in consolidated revenue and KRW 1.1 trillion in operating profit for the first quarter. Since the division has been struggling in securing orders from its key clients, its operating profit fell 42% year-over-year to 1.1 trillion won. It has been a similar story fr the past several quarters.

Going forward, Samsung expects to stabilize its 2nm process production in Q2 2025 and see growth due to strong mobile and automotive demand in the United States. It also aims to start mass production for its 2nm process and secure major orders, potentially boosting its business.

Samsung’s Visual Display and Digital Appliances business offers several products, including televisions and home appliances. This division reported KRW 14.5 trillion in consolidated revenue and KRW 0.3 trillion in operating profit in the first quarter. It saw strong sales of key products such as Neo QLEDs, OLEDs, and large models of 75 inches and over.

The company says the global trade uncertainties and slowing economic growth make it tough to predict how its business will shape in the future, but it will keep working to secure growth. If these uncertainties diminish, it expects better performance in the second half of the year.
