The past few weeks have been dominated by Pixel 10 leaks. But finally, some of the spotlight is shifting towards the Pixel Watch 4. The first renders of the Google Pixel Watch 4 have seemingly slipped out. From the initial glimpse, it looks like there could be a major change coming our way.

Pixel Watch 4 renders suggest the charging points have moved

Android Headlines, which published the exclusive renders of the Pixel Watch 4, also reports that the device introduces a new way to charge. Speaking of which, the charging points have moved from the back of the watch to the left side. This means the watch will now rest on its side while charging, a departure from earlier Pixel Watch models that charged from the back. Because of this design change, chargers made for previous Pixel Watches won’t work with the Pixel Watch 4.

One of the main perks of side charging is that it makes it easier to keep an eye on the watch’s battery level while it’s charging, according to the outlet. For instance, if the watch is on your bedside table, you can quickly check how much juice is left without having to pick it up. Another bonus is that the Pixel Watch 4 charges about 25 percent faster than its predecessor.

The new charging dock will come in the box, but a USB-C power adapter won’t be included. That said, any standard 5-watt USB-C charger will do the trick. If you lose the charger or want a spare, Google will likely sell the new dock separately. It’s expected to be around $30, similar to the previous charger.

The Pixel Watch 4 will be available in a handful of colors; you can check out all them here. It’s set to officially launch alongside the Pixel 10 series on August 20 at the Made by Google event.
