Samsung has officially introduced One UI 8, its latest software experience built on Android 16. The new version brings smarter multitasking, AI upgrades, and refined customization — and it’s already available in beta for the Galaxy S25 series. Moreover, the newly launched Galaxy Z Fold 7, Flip 7, and Flip 7 FE run One UI 8 out of the box. However, some upcoming Galaxy devices could still ship with One UI 7.

Samsung may not offer One UI 8 out of the box in some upcoming Galaxy devices

According to a new leak circulating on X, several unreleased Galaxy phones and tablets are still expected to ship with One UI 7, based on Android 15, despite the availability of One UI 8. The Galaxy A07, Galaxy M07, Galaxy F07, Galaxy A17, and Galaxy Tab S10 Lite may debut with the previous-gen One UI software. These are mostly budget and mid-range models, so it’s not entirely surprising.

However, some models may not go on sale until a few months later. By that time, One UI 8 should already be available widely. Rumors suggest the Android 16-based update will start rolling out to existing devices in early August. The Galaxy S25 series should lead the charge, followed by other models. Samsung may update most eligible devices to One UI 8 by the end of October.

If the latest rumor holds, the new devices will be a generation behind when it comes to the software experience. We hope Samsung reconsiders this strategy and ships Galaxy devices launching in August 2025 and later with One UI 8 out of the box.

Interestingly, the same leak confirms that the Galaxy S25 FE and Tab S11 series will debut with One UI 8. Both of these fall under the flagship category and are expected to debut in September or October. Samsung may only launch a base Tab S11 and Tab S11 Ultra this year, skipping the Plus model. Last year, it launched the Plus and Ultra.
