Samsung’s One UI 7 update is packed with so many changes and features that the list feels endless. As we dive into the first beta build, exciting new additions keep surfacing. While we’ve already covered a host of updates, here’s another noteworthy enhancement: One UI 7 revamps Smart Select and integrates it directly into the screenshot toolbar.
Smart Select gets an overhaul in One UI 7
Smart Select is a useful feature to quickly capture something on your Galaxy phone’s screen. Rather than capturing a full screenshot, you can select the portion of the screen you want to save, or even create a GIF directly if you are capturing a video. You can also quickly copy, share, or edit your selection, pin it, add it to a note, or translate the text in the selected area.
One UI 7 enhances the Smart Select experience with a more colorful selection boundary. Samsung has reorganized the tools for a streamlined view, removing the More button. Although there seems to be no new tool added to the feature, the new layout looks more polished and aesthetically pleasing.
Additionally, Samsung has integrated Smart Select into the screenshot toolbar. When you capture a screenshot, the toolbar that appears at the bottom of the screen to quickly crop or share the screenshot now includes a shortcut to Smart Select. This lets you pull out the additional tools to fine-tune your selection. Of course, you can already access Smart Select from the edge panels.
As said earlier, One UI 7 has a plethora of changes. It is shaping up to be the biggest OS update in Samsung’s history. The company should soon roll out beta programs for more Galaxy devices. Currently, One UI 7 beta is available for the Galaxy S24 series in India, Germany, Poland, South Korea, the UK, and the US. Check out the video below for more.
