One UI 7’s Home Now Bar Will Feature a Mini Music Player

by | Jan 11, 2025 | Galaxy Book, News, One UI, Samsung Apps

While the Galaxy S25 series (pre-reservations now open!) is stealing the spotlight at the moment, let’s not lose sight of the fact that the stable version of One UI 7.0 is just around the corner. Based on Android 15, One UI 7.0 could soon start rolling out to eligible Galaxy devices.

The company launched its beta program last month and has been working around, gathering user feedback to fine-tune the update and ensure a smoother, more polished experience. After all, this is one of the most highly anticipated upgrades in a long while. One UI 7 promises several tweaks and a major UI overhaul. In fact, one of the beta testers has already suggested adding a Mini Music Player to the One UI 7.0 Now Bar. To put it in perspective, think of something similar to the iPhone’s Dynamic Island — if that gives you a clearer picture.

Samsung is considering a Mini Music Player for Now Bar in the upcoming One UI 7.0 update

One UI 7 beta user kingwamble proposed the inclusion of a “mini music player” in the Now Bar in one of the upcoming updates. Along with the suggestion, they shared a concept image, which I’ll embed below so you can take a look for yourself. They also listed several ideas for the product development team, including compatibility with Samsung Music, Spotify, and other popular apps.

Samsung didn’t waste any time acknowledging the idea. The community moderator quickly weighed in, calling the integration of a mini music player into the Now Bar an “excellent idea.”

According to the moderator, this new feature would make it much easier for users to control their music — playing, pausing, skipping tracks, and adjusting the volume without needing to open any apps or menus. While the response from Samsung’s side has been overwhelmingly positive, there’s still no official word on when we can expect the feature to roll out.
