Samsung’s One UI 7 beta isn’t just about exciting new features and enhancements — it also marks a significant leap forward in security. Designed for the AI era, the update introduces a robust suite of advanced security measures. It prioritizes transparency, user control, and comprehensive protection to safeguard personal data across all Galaxy devices.
Samsung explains One UI 7’s AI-focused security enhancements
Samsung’s Knox Matrix, which it calls the “vision for the future,” ushers in a new era of device security with its multi-layered protection. This feature uses Trust Chain, a private blockchain, to intelligently monitor connected devices like Galaxy phones, TVs, and home appliances. The Knox Matrix dashboard in One UI 7 allows Galaxy users to check the security status of all their devices. Color-coded indicators and actionable prompts enable them to quickly take action if needed.
Additionally, Enhanced Data Protection simplifies the recovery of private data stored in Samsung Cloud. If you lose access to a trusted device, you can securely transfer your recovered data to a new device by verifying the lock screen credentials of the previous one. Knox Matrix also enhances credential security with passkeys, enabling users to log into apps, devices, and websites using biometric authentication like the fingerprint sensor on Galaxy smartphones.
Maximum Restrictions for Auto Blocker can now block 2G services to prevent data interception. It addresses a long-pending security threat for Galaxy users. Moreover, One UI 7 prevents automatic reconnections to untrusted Wi-Fi networks. You can also block USB connections when the device is locked to prevent unauthorized access. Galaxy devices can already remove location data from shared photos and block potentially harmful attachments or links in messages, ensuring maximum user security.
Galaxy-exclusive theft protection features
While Google already offers theft protection features on all Android devices, Samsung has built new features on top of those. Identity Check is an opt-in feature designed to protect your data when your lock PIN is compromised. It automatically enforces biometric authentication for sensitive security changes if suspicious activity is detected. A one-hour delay further prevents unauthorized users from making immediate changes to critical settings.
Samsung says One UI 7 is the next milestone in its commitment to user privacy and security in the AI era. The company plans to launch more AI features, including “enhanced, hardware-dependent on-device AI functions,” with the Galaxy S25 series early next year. The One UI 7 beta update is currently available for the Galaxy S24 series in several markets. Samsung may launch beta programs for more devices in the coming weeks. The stable update will roll out following the Galaxy S25 launch.
