One UI 7.0 Might Be Short-Lived as One UI 7.1 Quickly Follows

Samsung’s Android 15-based One UI 7.0 update could be short-lived. The company plans to launch a beta program for the Galaxy S24 series in December. However, rumors suggest that the Galaxy S25 series will ship with One UI 7.1 in January. Other Galaxy devices could skip One UI 7.0 altogether and jump straight to 7.1.

One UI 7.0 could have a short run before 7.1 arrives

Typically, Samsung launches One UI x.0 with the new Android version towards the end of the year. It is followed by the release of One UI x.1 with new Galaxy S flagships early next year. Last year, it introduced Android 14-based One UI 6.0 in October (beta version in August) and One UI 6.1 with the Galaxy S24 series early this year.

However, the company’s One UI 7 schedule is totally messed up. It has yet to roll out the beta version. At SDC 2024 on Thursday, Samsung said a beta build will be released later this year, followed by the stable version with the Galaxy S25 series in 2025. The Korean firm didn’t specify whether it’s talking about One UI 7.0 or 7.1 or both.

Meanwhile, prolific leaker Ice Universe claims the Galaxy S24 series will get One UI 7.0 beta in December. Samsung will then introduce One UI 7.1 with the Galaxy S25 series in January. It’s unclear whether the current flagships will receive the stable build before the new models arrive. The leaker also doesn’t make it clear if the stable update for the S24 lineup will be One UI 7.0 or 7.1.

Nonetheless, One UI 7.0 appears to be in for a very short run, with 7.1 eclipsing it quite fast. Since the beta program is arriving late and may not run long, other devices may not get it. They could directly receive the stable Android 15 update, likely with One UI 7.1. It’s all looking messed up currently. Hopefully, the massive delay will be worth the wait. The early signs look promising, so we’re feeling optimistic about it.
