Google Starts Rolling Out Android 16 Beta 3: Here’s What’s New

by | Mar 13, 2025 | News, One UI

Google has officially started rolling out Android 16 Beta 3. With this update, Android 16 has reached Platform Stability, meaning all app-related features and APIs are now set in stone. From here on out, the focus will shift to fixing bugs and fine-tuning system performance. This is a big step forward, and it’s safe to say it will also help with the development of One UI 8.0.

So, what’s new with Android 16 Beta 3?

One of the standout features in this beta is Auracast support. This allows compatible hearing aids and earbuds to receive audio broadcasts in public places like airports, classrooms, and concerts, making it easier for people with hearing impairments to enjoy their surroundings. Google is also rolling out outline text, replacing the old high-contrast text mode. This tweak improves readability by adding a thicker, more noticeable border around the text.

Another major update is Local Network Protection (LNP), which boosts both privacy and security. Right now, any app with internet access can connect to devices on a user’s local network. With LNP, apps will need special permission to reach these devices, giving users greater control over their privacy. Look Samsung, the Android 16 Beta 3 just dropped

Interestingly, while Google is already testing Android 16 Beta 3, Samsung hasn’t yet rolled out a stable version of One UI 7, which is based on Android 15. Samsung typically takes longer to release updates because it customizes Android with its own One UI features. But this time, it’s taking longer than usual. Never before has an One UI update been delayed like this. The One UI 7 beta is still ongoing, and the stable version is still on the way.

There’s already chatter about the early release of One UI 8.0. Some reports (and rumors) suggest Samsung is already working on its development, and that it might try to make up for the One UI 7.0 delay by rolling out One UI 8.0 ahead of schedule. Time will tell how this all pans out.
