As the wait for One UI 7.0 beta continues, leaks about the upcoming update have picked up pace. Tipsters have shared more snippets of information about the big update that brings Android 15 to Galaxy devices. We have fresh visuals of Samsung’s Dynamic Island-like Live Activities status bar pill, bottom search bar, and redesigned lock screen.
New One UI 7.0 leak offers a cleaner look at the Live Activities pill
Apple’s Dynamic Island is an interactive pill-shaped area on the top of the iPhone screen that displays alerts, notifications, and live information for some active apps. It helps enhance your productivity with quick access to various apps and alerts. A few Android OEMs have already copied it, and Samsung is joining the party with One UI 7.0.
But unlike Apple, Samsung’s Live Activities pill (name not official) doesn’t sit centrally. The company has placed it on the left side, next to the omnipresent clock. X user @BennettBuhner recently shared a video showing the feature in action. The interactive pill offers a music playback shortcut that expands on tapping. The animations look smooth and visually pleasing.
The source says these visuals aren’t from the most recent One UI 7.0 build. As such, this leak may not accurately depict the Live Activities pill. Reliable tipster Ice Universe claims it isn’t a genuine video captured on a Samsung phone running One UI 7.0. They say the below video is the only accurate leak. The visuals aren’t too different though, so both leaks give us a fair idea of what Samsung has in the pipeline.
Samsung is introducing a bottom search bar to the app drawer
The One UI app drawer offers a search bar to quickly lookup apps and files on your Galaxy device. The latest version (One UI 6.1.1) has the search bar at the top. With One UI 7.0, Samsung is bringing it to the bottom of the app drawer. X tipster @chunvn8888 recently shared images showing this redesign, along with a new color palette feature that lets you customize app icon colors. The feature is still in development and doesn’t work properly.
The same source also shared images of Samsung’s redesigned lockscreen and charging animations on One UI 7.0. It appears the company has added an expandable pill for charging animations. The new design is much better than plain text. You can see all the images below. If you look carefully, these leaks also show the redesigned camera and phone app icons (on the latter two images) and the redesigned battery indicator at the top.
Samsung may launch One UI 7.0 beta programs in the first half of August. Like in the past, beta programs won’t be available globally—probably limited to China, Germany India, Poland, South Korea, the UK, and the US. The Galaxy S24 series should get the first beta, followed by other models. When available, you can register via the Samsung Members app. One UI 7 will arrive out of the box on the Galaxy S25 series, for which our mystery box program is already live.
