Of course, Samsung is set to release new Galaxy foldables next year. Reports from Korea suggest that the company may scale back foldable production. This, however, means that a refresh of the Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip is just around the corner. Now, we have more details about what to expect. One UI 7.0 beta code may have revealed the model numbers of the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, and more.
One UI 7.0 beta code reveals upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7, Flip 7 and a Special Edition
While digging through the One UI 7.0 beta code, the folks at Android Authority uncovered some intriguing tidbits. As reported, the code includes references to the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, and possibly a Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition 2.
The publication discovered the model numbers SM-F751, SM-F966, and SM-F968 in the second One UI 7.0 beta, likely corresponding to Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 7, Galaxy Z Fold 7, and the successor to the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition. There’s been plenty of chatter about the possibility of a Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition 2. And this only adds fuel to the fire.
These model numbers align with previous generations, where the Galaxy Z Flip and Fold models were identified as SM-F741, SM-F956, and SM-F958.
Model Number | Device |
---|---|
SM-F751 | Galaxy Z Flip 7 |
SM-F741 | Galaxy Z Flip 6 |
SM-F966 | Galaxy Z Fold 7 |
SM-F956 | Galaxy Z Fold 6 |
SM-F968 | Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition 2 |
SM-F958 | Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition |
Something’s just not right, however
Oddly enough, the One UI 7.0 beta code doesn’t mention the Galaxy S25 Slim, which could potentially be the fourth variant of the Galaxy S25 lineup at Galaxy Unpacked. Nor the Galaxy Z Flip FE, a more affordable rumored clamshell foldable. Does this mean these won’t make an appearance? Not necessarily. Since One UI 7.0 is still in beta, we can expect more references to these devices in future beta releases.
That said, Samsung seemingly has an exciting foldable lineup in store for 2025. While Samsung continues to lead the foldable market, it’s facing rising competition, particularly from Chinese brands. One such contender, OnePlus is planning to launch the OnePlus Open 2 in the first quarter of 2025.
