Samsung’s One UI 6 Watch update is now available for the Galaxy Watch 4 series in the US. Both Bluetooth and LTE versions of the Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic are receiving the big feature update. It has already been rolled out to the Galaxy Watch 5, Watch 6, and Watch FE worldwide.
US Galaxy Watch 4 units receive the One UI 6 Watch update
Based on Wear OS 5, One UI 6 Watch is the latest iteration of Samsung’s custom smartwatch platform. It introduced this version with the Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra in July. Last month, the company began a global rollout of this update for older models. As expected, the Galaxy Watch 6 got it first, followed by the Watch 5. The Watch FE and Watch 4 soon joined the party.
After updating the Watch 4 lineup in several international markets, Samsung has now released the One UI 6 Watch update for the UV models. Galaxy Watch 4 or Watch 4 Classic users stateside are receiving this update with the firmware build number IXK1 (the last four characters). Since it’s an OS upgrade, the OTA (over the air) download size is huge, close to 2GB depending on your variant.
This update contains a plethora of changes, including several new health features. For those not into health and fitness, or not using their watches for health features, Samsung offers productivity enhancements, smoother navigation, visual upgrades, new watch faces, and many other notable new features and changes. This update also brings security enhancements, with the October security patch in tow.
If you receive a Galaxy Watch 4 or Watch 4 Classic in the US, watch out for a notification about this big update in the coming days. You can manually check for updates from the Settings app on your watch or the Watch Settings menu in the Galaxy Wearable app on your connected smartphone. If the update isn’t available for you, wait a couple of days and check again.
