Galaxy S21 series receives the November security update in the US
As of this writing, the November security patch is rolling out to the carrier-locked Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra on Verizon, T-Mobile, Comcast, Xfinity Mobile, Dish, and several other networks. The update comes with the firmware build number G99*USQSEGXJ4. “The security of your device has been improved,” Samsung’s official changelog states.
This means the update doesn’t bring any new features or functional enhancements, which is expected. Samsung is currently preparing One UI 7 with Android 15 for eligible Galaxy devices, including the Galaxy S21 trio. The update will roll out sometime in the first quarter of 2025. Until then, the phones may receive nothing more than the latest security patches with their monthly updates.
Samsung has already confirmed that the November SMR patches over 50 vulnerabilities across all Android-powered Galaxy phones and tablets. These security flaws exist in core Android services, One UI services, and other system components, including Exynos chips and other tools. Some vulnerabilities are more severe than others, though none are rated “critical” this month.
The November update will gradually roll out to the Galaxy S21 series across the US and beyond. Samsung will also update other eligible models to the latest security patch in the coming days. It has already updated dozens of them, including the Galaxy S24 series, but several devices are still awaiting the new SMR. We will let you know when Samsung pushes the update to more smartphones and tablets.
