Music Search for Circle to Search Rolling Out to Galaxy Phones

Google has started rolling out the music search function for Circle to Search, and once again, Galaxy devices seem to be the first to get it. A Reddit user confirmed receiving the new music-identifying tool on their Galaxy S23. It appears to be a limited rollout but the floodgates could open anytime now.

Circle to Search on Galaxy devices gains a music search function

Despite being a Google feature, Circle to Search debuted on Samsung’s Galaxy S24 series. It was presented as one of the initial Galaxy AI features, though it is powered by Google’s AI algorithm. Of course, the feature is now widely available on Android devices from other brands. Samsung also recently expanded the AI tool to select mid-range models.

In the meantime, Google has been working on a music search function. It lets you identify music playing on the device, nearby the device, or someone humming/singing the track. The company has been testing this feature for a few weeks now. It appears the rollout has finally begun. A Galaxy S23 user received it after updating the Google app to version 15.32.37.28.

The new version rolled out last week via the Play Store and is already widely available. However, music search for Music to Search isn’t available to everyone — we checked multiple devices and couldn’t find the new tool. Google may be enabling it via a server-side update, so it should show up in the coming weeks. Updating the Google app could help, though.

Once available, you will see a music note button next to the Google search bar when Circle to Search is activated. Tapping this button brings a music overlay that listens to music playing around the device and uses AI to identify it. You can use this tool to identify music in a social media video. It can also come in handy when you can’t recall the lyrics or song title but remember the tone. Just hum the tone and AI will work its magic to find the song for you.
