It hasn’t been smooth sailing for Samsung’s redesigned Galaxy Buds 3 Pro. Its market release was marred by various build quality defects, forcing the company to halt the sales briefly. The new wireless earbuds also have a compatibility issue with Sound Assistant’s Concert Hall sound effects. To make matters worse, users are now complaining about a sudden burst of high-pitched noise from one of the buds, causing temporary hearing loss.
Galaxy Buds 3 Pro occasionally produces a painful high-pitched noise
Over the past few weeks, several Galaxy Buds 3 Pro users have reported an unusual issue. One of the buds occasionally produces a painful high-pitched noise. The squeaking sound is so loud that your hearing momentarily goes for a toss. It can happen with either bud, though most complainants have noticed the problem with the right bud. One of the folks at SamMobile experienced the same issue on their Galaxy Buds 3 Pro recently.
A Reddit thread suggests it is a known problem with ANC (Active Noise Cancelation) wireless earbuds. The culprit is allegedly an audio feedback loop that ANC or Ambient Sound generated. People have experienced this issue with buds from other brands, with some claiming they first observed an audio feedback loop producing a squeaking sound “years ago”. So, if your Galaxy Buds 3 Pro has this problem, you are definitely not alone.
Some users have suggested a few tricks to prevent this issue. Apparently, the chances of your bud producing a high-pitched sound are high if you put them on in a rush or touch/cover the microphone when wearing them. Disabling ANC or Ambient Sound is a more effective solution but that defeats the whole purpose of buying a premium pair of wireless earbuds with ANC support. it’s unclear if Samsung can prevent such endless audio feedback loops with a firmware update for the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro.
