Samsung confirmed on the sidelines of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 launch event that it plans to unveil a tri-fold device soon. It may debut as the Galaxy Z TriFold, according to a trademark filing spotted over a month ago. Since Samsung intends to release the Galaxy Z TriFold this year, the launch doesn’t seem too far off, which explains the recent wave of leaks.

Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold animation leak hints at 1:2 multitasking

We exclusively revealed a few days ago that Samsung’s upcoming tri-fold will come with its own set of One UI 8 features. What remains unclear is whether those features will be available at launch or arrive later with the One UI 8.5 update. Either way, we’ve already had a glimpse of what multitasking could look like, along with a few additional hints.

One post on X (via Tim Tom) today caught our attention, as it may offer a better look at multitasking on the Galaxy Z TriFold. The clip shows an animation of three apps running side by side (literally side by side by side). But it also hints at another layout, what you might call 1:2 multitasking. In this mode, one app occupies nearly half the screen while the remaining space is split between two apps stacked on top of each other.

Galaxy Z TriFold Multitasking

Even better, the animation confirms that a single button controls this setup. Tap it, and you can instantly switch orientation — flipping between the three-wide layout and the 1:2 split. Pretty productive, right?

The animation also includes the folding sequence. To be fair, this isn’t entirely new. Our friends at Android Authority showcased the same animation earlier, and in much higher quality, in case you missed it.

With these features surfacing, it’s becoming clear that the Galaxy Z TriFold could be a multitasking powerhouse. The only major concern, however, is availability. Many users would prefer a device that launches globally, unlike Huawei’s attempt, but reports suggest the Galaxy Z TriFold may not see a broad release.
