Samsung may have finally addressed one of the biggest problems with its foldables. Its latest offering, the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition (SE), has a barely noticeable crease on the display. Videos shared on social media suggest it has one of the least visible creases among foldables worldwide.

Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition solves Samsung’s display crease woes

Samsung has been making foldables since 2019 and arguably offers the best foldable experience. However, some rivals that entered the market much later have already aced the hardware game. They have produced thinner foldables with superior specs and significantly reduced the display crease in just a few years. The Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is Samsung’s response to those super-slim foldables.

The new model is slim, lightweight, and better-specced than the Galaxy Z Fold 6. The company has produced it in limited quantities and sells it only in South Korea and China. The device has proved a major success in both markets, with the stock running out within a few hours. While the limited quantity likely played a role in the quick sell-out, the Galaxy Z Fold SE would have probably seen high demand had it launched globally.

That’s because of the myriad of enhancements it brings. Most notably, the display crease is the least visible on a Galaxy foldable ever. Prominent Samsung leaker Ice Universe shared a couple of videos on X showing the Galaxy Z Fold SE’s inner folding display. They even compared the device with the Oppo Find N3 (OnePlus Open). It looks like the new Samsung foldable has the shallowest crease on the market.

It’s worth noting that the Galaxy Z Fold SE lacks a digitizer for S Pen. Maybe this helped Samsung reduce the display crease, though we hope the company has improved its folding display and hinge technologies to achieve this smoothness. It remains to be seen if Samsung will offer similar enhancements on the Galaxy Z Fold 7 next year. The Korean firm may launch two Fold models and two Flip models in 2025.
