Galaxy gamers! Be prepared to experience Microsoft’s Xbox Mobile Store on your Galaxy phone. The website for the long-awaited store is now live, though not functional yet. Hopefully, the company will soon start offering apps and games through the store.
Microsoft publishes its Xbox Mobile Store website
Microsoft has long been planning to launch an app store on Android and iOS. It wants to offer first-party and third-party apps and games to mobile users worldwide. In May, the company’s President for Xbox, Sara Bond, announced that the store would go live in July. She said it would be a website rather than an app. This approach would allow it to bypass the policies of brands and countries and quickly roll out the store globally.
The Xbox Mobile Store website went live at the end of July. Unfortunately, it isn’t functional yet. It says “Coming Soon” with the following message: “Thank you for participating in the Xbox Insiders program. As part of our testing process, you have been placed in a holdback group and currently do not have access to this feature. Your support is invaluable to us, and we ask for your patience as we prepare for the public release. Stay connected with Xbox for further updates.”
It appears Microsoft still has some work pending at the backend. Hopefully, it will sort things out quickly and the store is up and running. Maybe launch a mobile app too. The company plans to initially offer first-party titles like Candy Crush and Minecraft. The marketplace will eventually open to third-party offerings, though Microsoft hasn’t provided a timeline for that.
Maybe we will hear more about its plans once the Xbox Mobile Store is fully functional and open to all. We will keep a close eye on the developments and let you know when we have more information. Once available, Galaxy users have more choices when downloading apps and games. Galaxy devices already come with the Play Store and Galaxy Store pre-installed.
