Now Bar is one of the finest new features Samsung introduced with One UI 7. The small pill-shaped bar on the bottom of your lock screen provides quick access to various active tasks, like music, calls, recordings, and more. The company recently highlighted upcoming enhancements for Now Bar, including AI-powered personalization. It appears Samsung will also integrate Gemini Live into this nifty new tool.
One UI 7’s Now Bar might integrate Gemini Live
Google is developing phone-call-style controls for Gemini Live, including “hang up” and “hold” buttons to manage ongoing chats without digging into the app. This very development could allow Samsung to integrate Gemini Live into One UI 7’s Now Bar. Since the tool already supports phone calls, Google’s AI chatbot could fit nicely into the system.
The folks over at Android Authority discovered “code fragments” hinting at the ongoing work towards this function. When available, Galaxy users should be able to hold and resume their Gemini Live conversations through Now Bar. The tool already supports stacking, allowing you to swipe between multiple live tasks. Gemini Live integration makes it a lot more useful.
As the publication notes, this integration is still in the early stages of development. “Right now, this isn’t in any way operational,” the report states. However, Samsung and Google might be able to make it happen by the time One UI 7 hits the stable channel. The Korean firm plans to introduce it with the Galaxy S25 series on January 22. Older models will receive the update later.
Samsung and Google have collaborated on various other features in the past. Recent leaks suggest they are also working on integrating Gemini into your Galaxy phone’s side/power button. Currently, a long press of the side button can either summon Bixby or bring up the power menu. You may soon be able to replace Bixby with Gemini.
