If Google’s Gboard is the default keyboard app on your Galaxy, you should install the latest version right away. Google has rolled out a new update with several innovative tools. The update was released a few weeks ago and is now globally available for Android devices, including Galaxy models.
Gboard updated with interesting new features
Google consistently tests and adds new features to its Android app, enhancing the user experience. Recently, the company rolled out version 14.7 of Gboard, which comes packed with useful functionalities. Among the highlights is the ability to scan and extract text from real-world objects directly into any text field using your device’s camera.
After updating to the latest version, you will be able to copy text from physical documents or anything on your laptop screen directly into the text field on your phone. This tool uses your phone’s camera, so you need to grant the camera permission to scan text. Samsung Keyboard already offers a similar function.
This Gboard update also introduces other enhancements, such as improved Smart Replies powered by on-device large language models (LLMs) on supported devices. Smart Replies now offer more engaging and thoughtful responses, making conversations smoother.
Another exciting addition is the expansion of Emoji Kitchen, which now boasts over 40,000 new emoji combinations. This feature allows you to create fun and unique emoji mashups by combining existing emojis. The latest version also includes an improved emoji selector and introduces bi-directional emojis for even more creative expression.
Last but not least, Gboard has now become your grammar assistant with a proofreading function that identifies and fixes errors in your text with just one tap. If you haven’t already updated to the latest version of Gboard on your Galaxy device, head to the Google Play Store now and enjoy these exciting new features.
