This year, Samsung decided to pull something different and took the wraps off the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition (Galaxy Z Fold 6 SE). Now, the word on the street is that Samsung is prepping to bring the Galaxy Z Fold SE 2 (Galaxy Z Fold 7 SE) too. There’s a twist, however.
Expect no design changes in Galaxy Z Fold SE 2 (Z Fold 7 SE)
According to display expert Ross Young, the next Galaxy Z Fold SE 2 (Galaxy Z Fold 7 SE) will resemble the current Z Fold Special Edition (or Galaxy Z Fold 6 SE). This shouldn’t be surprising, as Samsung typically doesn’t change the design every year. He confirmed the update during an interaction on X.
The current Galaxy Z Fold SE is exclusive to Korea and is available in China as the Samsung W25. It lives up to its name, packing several upgrades compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 6 (watch our comparison below).
Yes, Galaxy tri-fold is coming next year
More rumors about the Galaxy tri-fold are unfolding—no pun intended. According to Korean blogger yeux1122, Samsung’s tri-fold is in the works for a 2025 release, corroborating previous reports from ET News. To remind you, it will feature a tri-folding display, essentially sporting two folding displays, similar to the Huawei Mate XT. Unlike the Mate XT, the Samsung tri-fold could open inward.
The bottom line is that 2025 could be a huge year for Galaxy foldables, and we’re very excited to see how they stack up against each other. Speaking of clamshell foldables—the Flip series—we might also see the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Z Flip 7 FE. This brings the total to five foldables ramping up for next year:
- Galaxy Z Fold 7
- Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition (Galaxy Z Fold 7 SE)
- Galaxy Z Flip 7
- Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE
- Galaxy tri-fold*
For now, the lineup looks promising, and we really hope all these foldables debut in 2025. Show ’em, Samsung.
