Samsung is getting ready to launch its next-gen foldables this summer at what’s called the second Galaxy Unpacked event. The Korean firm should introduce four new foldables — Galaxy Z Fold 7, Flip 7, Flip FE, and a “tri-fold” G Fold. Not much is known about the last two yet, but we’re pretty sure the first two are a done deal for the event.

Galaxy Z Fold 7 could finally improve the crease issue

All eyes will be on the Galaxy Z Fold 7, especially with the OnePlus Open 2 (or Oppo Find N5) coming soon. Oppo’s Pete Lau even took a jab at Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 6, showing off the “no crease detected” screen on the Oppo Find N5. Yes, it may go global as the OnePlus Open 2. The OnePlus Open raised the bar for foldables, and the Open 2 might finally say goodbye to the crease. That’s something that’s been a real pain point for foldable makers.

Of course, Lau’s comments are just part of a marketing campaign for now. But I’m all for innovation, and I’m curious to see how these devices actually perform in real life.

The word on the street is that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will make big improvements to the crease. Some rumors suggest it’ll be much less noticeable than before. Tipster PandaFlashPro has even “confirmed” that the Z Fold 7 will have a 98.1% crease invisibility rating. If that’s true, it could be on par with, or even ahead of, the OnePlus Open 2, which might launch in the spring or early summer.

As for other specs, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 could pack the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor. That’s the same chip powering the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The new Fold could even borrow a 200MP main camera from the new Ultra flagship. It should come with One UI 7 out of the box and feature a digitizer-free S Pen. More details are awaited.
