Samsung is gearing up to debut its next-gen foldables at the usual July Unpacked event. We’re fairly certain the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 will launch there. If the stars align, we might also see the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE (exclusive renders) and possibly even a tri-fold, though the latter may have a limited release. Now, we’ve got even better news, and if it pans out, it could mark an entirely new chapter.
Galaxy Z Flip 7, Fold 7 tipped to run One UI 8.0 at launch
Speaking of which, SamMobile reports that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 will launch running One UI 8.0. Yes, that’s not a typo. The publication claims the new foldables will debut with Android 16-based One UI 8.0, citing “insiders.” That’s not too surprising, given the strong rumors that Samsung will skip One UI 7.1 and 7.1.1 altogether. What makes this even more likely is the imminent launch of Android 16, which paves the way for One UI 8.0.
Google is expected to release the stable version of Android 16 in June or July. So it makes sense for Samsung to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 a few weeks later. This leak backs up an earlier claim from a tipster who also said the Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 would ship with One UI 8.0. Plus, Samsung could make up for the One UI 7.0 delay by rolling out One UI 8.0 earlier than expected. But who knew it would be this early?
Of course, aside from the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7, the Galaxy S25 series will be the first to get One UI 8.0. Samsung has also started testing the One UI 8.0 firmware builds for these phones too, which adds more weight to the rumors.
