Better late than never! Samsung has finally started rolling out the One UI 7.0 beta for the Galaxy Z Fold 6, bringing a host of new features. Much of what’s included has already been seen in previous betas for the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S25. There’s something new beyond these changes, however. It’s the new transient taskbar on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 running the One UI 7.0 beta.
Galaxy Z Fold 6 gets transient taskbar with One UI 7.0 beta update
Before this update, Galaxy Z Fold 6 users who relied on gesture navigation had to press and hold the bottom of the screen to bring up the taskbar. Now, with One UI 7, all it takes is a slow swipe up from the bottom. So it’s now more intuitive to use. For those unfamiliar, this feature is already available on the Pixel Fold. The new taskbar also feels smoother with improved animations. Instead of always occupying screen space, it now appears when needed and disappears when you’re done. This is great for users who prefer a clutter-free experience while using apps in full-screen mode. Samsung had previously stuck with a persistent taskbar for its large-screen devices, which was convenient but took up valuable space. Switching to a transient taskbar is a step in the right direction.

For now, the update is only available on the Galaxy Z Fold 6, and it’s unclear if Samsung will bring the feature to other large-screen devices like the Galaxy Tab S10 series. However, with the One UI 7 beta for tablets expected to roll out later this month, we should find out soon enough.
Since One UI 7.0 is still in beta, Samsung may make further refinements before the final release. A new rumor suggests that the stable rollout could begin on April 1, starting with the Galaxy S24 series.
