Samsung’s One UI 7.0 beta update for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 introduces a myriad of new features and enhancements. As you can see in the official changelog, the foldables are getting AI enhancements, UI changes, and more. A subtle new upgrade we loved is Live Activities support for music in the status bar.
Live Activities is a new UI element in One UI 7.0. It’s a pill-shaped expandable button in the status bar, providing real-time updates from various apps. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 add Live Activities support for music playback, allowing users to control music without pulling down the notification panel. The feature offers a seamless way to manage media, improving multitasking and accessibility.
Surprisingly, Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S25 Ultra, which runs the stable version of One UI 7.0, does not include this feature. Similarly, the Galaxy S24 series, currently in the beta phase of One UI 7.0, is also missing Live Activities for music. Hopefully, Samsung will expand the feature to more devices soon.
The company has already confirmed that One UI 7.0 beta will be available for the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Tab S10 series, and Galaxy A55 later this month. These devices should receive the new Live Activities feature. Samsung may also roll it out to the Galaxy S24 series with the next beta update. If it doesn’t plan any more beta releases for the 2024 flagships, expect the stable version to bring it.
The stable One UI 7.0 update is set to arrive in April. The Galaxy S25 series should also get a sizeable update with these kinds of missing features soon. Even some supported features, like detailed battery stats, aren’t available globally. Samsung has yet to release the March update for its latest flagships, so stay tuned.
