Samsung has now launched the Galaxy S25 flagships and is gearing up to roll out One UI 7 to eligible older models. The update may hit those devices starting in February. Ahead of that, the company is rolling out the January security update to its phones. The Galaxy Z Fold 3, Flip 3, Galaxy A15, and Galaxy A14 recently grabbed the new security patch.
January update rolls out to the Galaxy Z Fold 3, Flip 3, and more devices
Samsung’s 2021 foldables are receiving the January security update widely in the US and other markets. The US Galaxy Z Fold 3 gets the firmware build numbers F926USQS9JXLA (carrier-locked) and F926U1UES9JXLA (unlocked), while those for the Flip 3 are F711USQSAJXLA (carrier-locked) and F711U1UESAJXLA (unlocked). European versions are getting the build numbers F926BXXSAIXLA and F711BXXSBIXLA.
These foldables are picking up the same changelog everywhere. Samsung is pushing nothing more than this month’s security fixes. The January patch, aka SMR (Security Maintenance Release), for Galaxy smartphones and tablets contains fixes for over 50 vulnerabilities. Those include six critical Android OS patches from Google, alongside a bunch of Galaxy-specific patches.
The same security fixes are also available for the Galaxy A15 and A14 in the US. The new build numbers for the A15 are A156USQS5BYA3 and A156U1UES5BYA3 and the A14 are A146USQSADXL1 and A146U1UESCDXL2. The changelog is the same for these budget handsets, and we aren’t surprised. Samsung has reserved all feature updates for One UI 7.
Speaking of which, the Galaxy Z Fold 3, Flip 3, Galaxy A15, and Galaxy A14 are all eligible for it. As said earlier, Samsung will start rolling out One UI 7 to eligible devices next month. However, recent flagships will receive it first before the update reaches older models. Depending on the device you use, you might have to wait for weeks or months to receive the One UI 7 update.
