Samsung is expected to launch its first-ever Fan Edition foldable in 2025. The Galaxy Z Flip FE will be the company’s entry-level foldable offering next year, sitting below the Flip 7. It recently surfaced on the IMEI database, revealing the model number SM-F961B. We now have some information about its display, courtesy of a renowned industry insider.
Galaxy Z Flip FE to use the Flip 6’s display
According to display industry veteran Ross Young, Samsung will use the Galaxy Z Flip 6’s display on the Galaxy Z Flip FE. The tipster didn’t share further details, but they likely meant the Fan Edition foldable will share its inner folding screen with the 2024 Flip. It’s a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2x display with a Full HD+ resolution (1080 x 2640 pixels).
Made by Samsung Display, it is an LTPO panel with a 120Hz variable refresh rate. The screen supports HDR10+ content and boasts a peak brightness of 2,600 nits, the same as the Galaxy S24 Ultra. Samsung uses Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) protection on top of this folding plastic display for enhanced durability.
If the new report is accurate, the Galaxy Z Flip FE promises a flagship-grade inner display. It’s unclear if it will also borrow the cover display from the Flip 6. The 2024 model sports a 3.4-inch Super AMOLED panel on the outside, offering 720 x 748 pixels resolution, 60Hz refresh rate, 1,600 nits of peak brightness, and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection.
The rest of the specs are also under wraps, though there are strong rumors about Samsung shipping the FE foldable with its in-house Exynos 2400 processor used in the Galaxy S24 series. The company could pair the chipset with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. More details should emerge in the coming months. The Galaxy Z Flip FE will arrive alongside other foldables in the second half of 2025.
