Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra are receiving their first software update. It’s a relatively small update with some bug fixes and stability optimizations. The rollout has just begun, so it could take a while to reach all eligible units globally. The Galaxy Watch Ultra is still awaiting its first update. We will let you know when it receives one.
Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra get bug fixes with their first software update
Launched alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 earlier this month, the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra are the first Wear OS 5-powered smartwatches from Samsung. The Korean firm opened general sales of the devices on July 24. A week later, it is now rolling out a software update to both new watches.
As of this writing, the update is available for the Bluetooth version (40mm and 44mm) of the Galaxy Watch 7 in Samsung’s homeland South Korea. It comes with the firmware build number AXG2 (last four characters) and has an OTA (over the air) file size of around 170MB, though the update size may vary depending on the model variant.
Samsung’s official changelog says the Galaxy Watch 7 is getting stability improvements for charging and battery life. Some users say the battery life got worse after the update, but that happens sometimes. It should get back to normal shortly unless there is a serious bug in the update. In that case, Samsung will roll out another update soon.
