Galaxy Users Can Now Report Road Hazards on Android Auto

by | Oct 1, 2024 | News, Updates

Galaxy users, you can now report accidents and other road hazards via Android Auto in your car. Google has introduced a hazard reporting feature for Maps on Android Auto. Currently available in the US, it lets users inform other drivers about accidents, traffic jams, speed traps, and more in real-time. Google Maps on Apple CarPlay already offers this function.

Android Auto now lets Galaxy users report road hazards

Android Auto offers a simplified version of several apps that you might use while driving. You can access those apps on your car’s built-in infotainment display. Google Maps, the ever-reliable platform for finding directions and places, works great on the car display. However, it lacked an important feature all along — the ability to report road hazards.

Users have been asking for it, and the company finally listened. The latest update for Android Auto allows users to quickly share important information and report road hazards directly from their car screens. The new version started rolling out last week and recently expanded across the US. It’s unclear if Google plans to bring it to more markets anytime soon.

Once updated, you will see a triangle-shaped hazard button below the compass on the Google Maps display in cars. Tapping it lets you report traffic jams, lane closures, constructions, crashes, and more. Other drivers will see the info in real-time, helping increase driving safety and reduce road accidents. Hopefully, Google will roll out this feature widely.

Some users on Reddit have noticed that cars with smaller screens do not properly show these hazard reports or even the new option to report problems on the road. Google should be able to fix it with some optimizations for the app. We will keep a close eye on this rollout and let you know as soon as we have more information. Watch out for the feature in your Android Auto-enabled car if you haven’t already received it.
