Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S10 series is now on sale globally. While the new tablets do not feature major upgrades, they offer enough enhancements to stand out from the Tab S9 lineup. They aren’t simply a rehash of their predecessors. Let’s take a quick look at what’s new and what remains the same on the Galaxy Tab S10+ and Tab S10 Ultra.
Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra upgrades you might have missed
The Galaxy Tab S10+ and Tab S10 Ultra feature an identical design to their predecessors. Samsung has made them marginally slimmer and lightweight — around 10 grams lighter. The screens remain unchanged at 12.4 inches and 14.6 inches. These are the same panels found on 2023 models. However, Samsung now offers an anti-reflective coating over the display assembly.
It’s a revolutionary tech first seen on the Galaxy S24 series. The coating massively reduces screen glare and improves visibility under light. You can comfortably use the new tablets outdoors. Elsewhere, Samsung’s new tablets feature a MediaTek chipset instead of Qualcomm. The Dimensity 9300+ offers identical raw performance to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, so this hardly makes a difference.
The RAM amount and storage capacity remain unchanged, and so do the cameras. The official durability ratings also remain the same, though the Galaxy Tab S10+ and Tab S10 Ultra boast an Enhanced Armor aluminum body. Camera hardware and features, AKG-tuned quad stereo speakers, battery capacity, charging speed, under-display fingerprint scanner, and connectivity features are unchanged too.
However, the new tablets bring notable software upgrades. They arrive with Android 14-based One UI 6.1.1 and support the full Galaxy AI suite. You get AI features like Math Calculator, Note Assist, Sketch to Image, Browsing Assist, Generative Edit, Live Translate, Handwriting Help, Circle to Search, Air Command, Portrait Studio, Instant Slo-mo, Interpreter, Generative Wallpapers, and more.
Long update support unmatched by rivals
The Galaxy Tab S10+ and Tab S10 Ultra bring another major upgrade. They are eligible for seven years of Android OS and security updates. The devices run Android 14 out of the box and will receive updates up to Android 21. Security patches will arrive at least until October 2031. The Tab S9 series stops receiving feature updates after Android 17, while security support lapses in mid-2028.
The new tablets not only offer new features for a longer duration, they are secure for three extra years. With Wi-Fi 7 support on the Ultra model, it is also equipped to handle the fast internet needs of the next generation. The Galaxy Tab S10+ remains on Wi-Fi 6E, though. It’s no slouch today, but the newer Wi-Fi standard obviously has advantages, particularly in the years to come.
So, these are some of the key areas where Samsung’s latest tablets do better than their predecessors. If you plan to upgrade from the Galaxy Tab S9+ or S9 Ultra, your existing accessories are cross-compatible with the new models.
