Galaxy Tab S10+ and S10 Ultra Launched with Minimal Upgrades

by | Sep 26, 2024 | Galaxy Tab, News

Samsung has officially launched the Galaxy Tab S10 series. The latest flagship tablet lineup only includes two models, the S10+ and S10 Ultra. The company didn’t release a base model this year. The new tablets are now available to purchase in the US and several other markets.

The Galaxy Tab S10 series brings a few hardware upgrades

The Galaxy Tab S10 series doesn’t bring many upgrades to Samsung’s flagship tablet lineup. The new models feature Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays with a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ support, and Corning Gorilla Glass protection. The Plus has a 12.4-inch panel with a 1752×2800 pixels resolution, while the Ultra has a 14.6-inch display with an 1848×2960 pixel resolution for the S10 Ultra. Both support the S Pen.

While these display specs are unchanged, Samsung offers an anti-reflective coating this year. A feature first seen on the Galaxy S24 series, it improves the screen’s visibility under light. We’d call it a massively underrated feature. The company has also switched the processor provider for the new tablets. The Galaxy Tab S10+ and S10 Ultra switch from Qualcomm to MediaTek’s Dimensity 9300+ processor.

Built on a 4nm process, the chip has a prime CPU core clocked at 3.40GHz, making it one of the fastest processors of its generation. It is comparable to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Samsung offers up to 12GB RAM and 512GB storage on the Galaxy Tab S10+. The Ultra model also includes a 16GB + 1TB variant. Both tablets support microSD cards up to 1.5TB, an increase from the previous 1TB limit.

Samsung touts support for Galaxy AI features like Circle to Search, Sketch to Image, and more. Its official Book Cover keyboards for these tablets also include a dedicated Galaxy AI key. The company aims to push the Galaxy Tab S10+ and S10 Ultra into your device ecosystem as a productivity tool. Enhanced coss-device functions add to their capabilities, as Samsung works closely with Google and Microsoft on new features.

The camera setup on the Galaxy Tab S10 series remains unchanged. On the back, there’s a 13MP f/2.0 main camera and an 8MP f/2.2 ultrawide lens. On the front, Samsung offers a 12MP selfie camera on both models, with the Ultra adding a second 12MP ultrawide camera. The tablets also keep the battery capacities unchanged at 10,090mAh and 11,200mAh, respectively. Both devices support 45W wired fast charging.

Only the Ultra gets Wi-Fi 7

In terms of design, both the Galaxy Tab S10+ and S10 Ultra feature a sleek, premium look, with aluminum frames and back panels. They are available in Platinum Silver and Moonstone Gray colors. Both models also come with IP68 certification for dust and water resistance. Notably, the Ultra model supports the latest Wi-Fi 7 standard, while the Plus model is equipped with Wi-Fi 6E.

Running on Android 14 with One UI 6.1.1, the Tab S10 series offers Bluetooth v5.3, USB-C v3.2, LPDDR5X RAM, UFS 4.0 storage, AKG-tuned quad stereo speakers, wireless Samsung DeX, and more. The Galaxy Tab S10+ and S10 Ultra also feature under-display fingerprint sensors.

With minimal hardware upgrades, it’s only justifiable that Samsung kept the prices unchanged. The Galaxy Tab S10+ starts at $999 and the Ultra at $1,199. The prices go up as you add more RAM and storage to your unit. The 5G model also costs more than its Wi-Fi counterpart.
