Samsung hasn’t forgotten the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite. It just released the One UI 6.1 update for the 2021 budget tablet. It’s unclear what took so long, but the big feature update is finally here. The device should also receive One UI 6.1.1, though its chances of getting Android 15 and One UI 7.0 are slim.
Galaxy Tab A7 Lite gets One UI 6.1 months after other devices
Introduced with the Galaxy S24 series, One UI 6.1 is a big feature update for Galaxy devices. It doesn’t bring a new Android version but offers plenty of new features. Shortly after the Galaxy S24 launch, Samsung started pushing the updated One UI version to other compatible models. It updated dozens of phones and tablets globally.
The Galaxy Tab A7 Lite, which picked up the Android 14-based One UI 6.0 update, was also supposed to get One UI 6.1. It was unclear why Samsung skipped the budget tablet. It turns out it didn’t. One UI 6.1 is now rolling out to the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite. The update is currently available in Samsung’s homeland, South Korea, but should go global soon.
The Korean LTE version of the device receives this update with the firmware build number T225NKOU8EXH2. It is T220XXU8EXH2 for the Wi-Fi version. The tablet is picking up the July security patch along with tons of goodies. Speaking of which, the update brings wallpaper editing, alarm customizations, calendar customizations, and more.
One UI 6.1 also contains multitasking improvements, new battery protection tools, and a host of other changes. Samsung has already pushed this update to all other eligible devices. The Galaxy Tab A7 Lite should receive it globally in the coming weeks. If you are using this tablet, watch out for a big update. You can go to Settings > Software update and tap Download and install to check for updates manually.
