Galaxy S25 Ultra Outshines Rivals with Thinner, Lighter Design

by | Aug 28, 2024 | Galaxy S, News

The Galaxy S25 Ultra looks set to redefine what we expect from Samsung’s Ultra flagship in terms of design and portability. The device allegedly outshines not just its predecessors but also its biggest rivals, including the iPhone 16 Pro Max and Pixel 9 Pro XL. It’s thinner and lighter than the two rivals, a reputed tipster claims. In fact, it is the thinnest and lightest top-tier flagship of its generation. Samsung will launch the phone in early 2025.

Galaxy S25 Ultra is the thinnest and lightest top-tier flagship

If rumors are true, the Galaxy S25 Ultra will see a major redesign. Samsung is getting rid of the sharp corners and re-introducing a curved design to its Ultra flagship. The corners are ever so slightly curved, while the bezels around the display have been tripped for a more premium look. The changes have allowed for a larger screen in a more compact size. The device is smaller than its predecessor yet offers a bigger display.

Renowned leaker Ice Universe claims the Galaxy S25 Ultra “will be the thinnest and lightest of all Ultra flagship phones to be released soon”. By “Ultra” flagships, they mean the top-tier models. They say the upcoming Galaxy is thinner and lighter than the iPhone 16 Pro Max and Pixel 9 Pro XL, among others. The Pixel is 8.5mm thick and weighs 221 grams, while the iPhone is rumored to be 8.3mm thick and allegedly weighs 225 grams.

Based on this data, the Galaxy S25 Ultra should be thinner than 8.3mm and weigh less than 221 grams. For comparison, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is 8.6mm thick and weighs 232 grams. Coupled with a narrower body — down from 79mm to 77.6mm — the new Galaxy flagship should feel substantially more compact and lightweight. This is an amazing feat from Samsung while still offering a 5,000mAh battery and built-in S Pen.

The Galaxy S25 series will go official in early 2025. As usual, Samsung will launch three models, all of which run Android 15-based One UI 7.1 out of the box. The company has already started software development for the new phones. We have also opened our mystery box program for the Galaxy S25 trio.
