M14 OLED panels offer notable upgrades on the Galaxy S25 Ultra
Samsung’s display division recently supplied M14 OLED panels for the iPhone 16 and Pixel 9 series. The company is now making screens for the Galaxy S25 Ultra using the same advanced OLED materials. According to display industry veteran Ross Young, the Korean firm’s latest display technology uses deuterium in all three colors (RGB or Red, Green, and Blue).
In contrast, the M13 OLED panels on the Galaxy S24 series feature deuterium only in Green and Blue host colors. This change in materials in the M14 panels increases the brightness and efficiency by 20–30%, while the lifespan increases by 10–20%. Samsung is prioritizing efficiency over brightness on the Galaxy S25 Ultra, but expect notable upgrades everywhere.
The efficiency gains may not massively impact the overall battery life of the device. However, this could be a meaningful upgrade in the long run as the battery health degrades. Unfortunately, Samsung doesn’t plan to offer this display upgrade on the smaller Galaxy S25 models. The same source previously claimed that only the S25 Ultra features Samsung’s M14 OLED display.
That said, tipster Ice Universe claims the Galaxy S25 series has improved screens, including the base and Plus models. Samsung allegedly fixed the graininess problem spotted in some Galaxy S24 units.
