Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Ultra could come with a notable display upgrade. While it’s unlikely to feature an M14 OLED panel, the device is rumored to include Corning’s second-generation Gorilla Armor glass on top. This upgraded glass promises improved durability and enhanced anti-reflective properties.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra to exclusively use the second-gen Gorilla Armor glass
Gorilla Armor is Corning’s toughest protective glass panel yet. Samsung used its first-gen version on the Galaxy S24 Ultra — the other two models feature Gorilla Glass Victus 2, the same as the S23 Ultra. It appears the company has similar plans for the Galaxy S25 series. Only the Ultra model will be upgraded to Gorilla Armor 2 (second-gen), seasoned Samsung leaker Ice Universe claims.
While the tipster doesn’t reveal anything about the protective panels for the Galaxy S25 and S25+, we hope Samsung will upgrade them to the first-gen Gorilla Armor. The new version is allegedly “more powerful” and offers better anti-reflective properties. The anti-reflective coating on the Galaxy S24 screens was a game-changer, so any enhancement would be a welcome upgrade.
Earlier rumors suggest Samsung doesn’t plan to upgrade the new flagships to its M14 OLED screens. While the company has already supplied M14 OLEDs to Apple and Google, it will stick with the M13 solutions for the Galaxy S25 series due to cost reasons. Thankfully, it has reworked the M13 displays to address minor issues with graininess. Expect crisper visuals on the upcoming flagship trio.
Well, we might get four Galaxy S25 models next month. No, the Fan Edition (FE) model isn’t arriving early — it’s expected in late 2025. Instead, Samsung is readying the Galaxy S25 Slim, a completely new addition to the lineup. It is a slim flagship with top-tier specs. Rumors suggest Samsung will unveil it at the next Unpacked on January 22. It remains to be seen whether it’ll be a full launch or just a teaser.
